My psychiatric practice is a space dedicated to thoughtful, personalized care. A healing process works best when there is a clear direction and a shared understanding of where you have been, and where you would like to be.

During our first few meetings together, ideally, a certain resonance and a working understanding will develop between us. These initial meetings provide an in-depth assessment of what, in my opinion, you may need, and a time for you to share your thoughts and perspective.

The initial phase of our work together, the evaluation, which I choose to delineate as a separate service, is invaluable. After many years of experience, I truly can say, without hesitation, that this is the best way to help people sort out what is happening to them. Usually requiring three sessions, ideally completed in two weeks, you will have a valuable and thorough medical/psychiatric evaluation.

Most people nowadays enter treatment without an evaluation, or a time to consider their best options. But, there is no need, in most instances, to rush into treatment, without direction. Rushing into treatment without a well thought out plan can lead to poorer outcomes and often lengthier treatment times. I prefer to take the time, at the outset, for clarification.

A good evaluation naturally leads to a mutual decision about what to do next. You may need some medical tests or a referral to a specialized program. You may decide you just want to try a medication now or make some psychosocial changes that you had been contemplating. Or you may feel entering therapy is what is best for you at this point in time.

if we continue to work together, we will outline and periodically review the mutually agreed upon goals of our work.

My treatment model works best for new or circumscribed problems. Although the work may be exploratory, it is never open-ended. The model is short term to intermediate care, although one can return to treatment, if needed. I think occasional hiatuses in treatment are essential to growth and in fact, see them as part of the treatment.

This model of care requires your active participation and a high level of motivation.

You also must be comfortable with the use of technology and a telehealth platform. If we decide to work together in psychotherapy, you do not need to see another clinician. Most of my patients appreciate not having to see more than one clinician.

My goal as your psychiatrist and therapist is to help you rediscover your clarity, vitality and balance.

I treat most Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, OCD, PMS, PMDD, Perimenopause and Menopause Issues, Post-partum mental health issues,
Single Episode Trauma, Health Anxiety, Coping with Pain and Other Chronic Medical illnesses, Psychophysiological Issues, Aging, Grief and Life Review, Relationship and Family Issues, Issues related to Divorce and Career Concerns, and Issues with Life Transitions.

Unfortunately, there are conditions I no longer treat due to working solely via telehealth. These include but are not limited to Schizophrenia, Bipolar I Disorder, Substance Abuse, Autism, Dissociative Disorders, Complex PTSD, or Personality Disorders. I also do not treat any illnesses prone to the commission of violence acts or abuse, any conditions that have or will require psychiatric hospitalizations, any court referred or forensic cases, nor will I take any cases that requiring writing a legal report, disability evaluations, dangerousness evaluations, return to work evaluations or any cases that may require a court appearance or a lawsuit.
